Since clients do not pay fees or compensation to TVC of any kind, these are TVC’s primary success metrics. Return on our invested time with clients is paramount. While we’d like to help as many entrepreneurs as we can, we are selective and look for those with commercialization potential—that means evaluating many of the same criteria that investors use (team, technology, pain, market size, customer traction, etc.). Since we work with early stage companies, we select clients based on their potential, and help entrepreneurs drive toward each milestone. When they line up with what investors have told us they’re seeking, we’ll make the introduction.
Lotus Leaf Coatings, Inc. Closes funding round from internal investors.

Albuquerque, NM: Lotus Leaf Coatings Inc. a company headquartered in New Mexico, closed on a funding round from existing investors including members of the New Mexico Angels, strategic partner and Flywheel Ventures’ New Mexico Gap Fund. The company was founded in 2010 to commercialize an extremely water repellent (super-hydrophobic) coating developed jointly at Sandia National Laboratory and the University of New Mexico. The LotusShield™ technology, licensed from STC.UNM, is a patented nano-scale coating that mimics the nano-scale roughness of the lotus leaf to provide superior water repellency.
Lawrence Chavez, CEO of Lotus Leaf Coatings said, “This funding will allow us to continue our customer and product development. There has been a high level of interest in our coatings and this will allow us to satisfy our customers needs.”
The New Mexico Angels, with support from Technology Ventures Corporation (TVC), provided funding as well as their extensive managerial and business experience to provide start up advice to Lotus Leaf Coatings.
