FDA Approves Super Metal
November 19, 2010
Congratulations to TVC client, Dr. Terry Lowe, chief scientist at Manhattan Scientifics. On Thursday, Oct. 14 the first FDA-approved dental implant made with nanotitanium was
installed in the mouth of Dr. Lowe who helped develop it. Nanotitanium, an FDA-approved super-metal that is stronger than conventional metal alloys, integrates more quickly with human bone -- and is expected to be longer lasting, and provide faster post-surgery healing. Nanotitanium is the product of a collaboration of U.S. scientists at the Los Alamos National Laboratory and Russian weapons technology scientists who teamed together under direction from the U.S. Global Initiative for Proliferation Prevention at the U.S. Dept. of Energy. Dr. Lowe founded the company Metallicum, the original licensee, which was later bought by Manhattan Scientifics. Dr. Terry Lowe, Chief Scientist, Manhattan Scientifics.
