Production Begins On Cutting Edge Technology to Aid Those Who Suffer From Hearing Loss
August 9, 2011
Albuquerque, NM – Production of a high-tech, low-cost hearing instrument begins at Albuquerque-based Betatron Electronics. The patent-pending hearing instrument called the EarPOD provides affordable, high-performance hearing assistance for the population that has age-related hearing loss.
Founded in 2010, EarPOD, LLC. uses a patent-pending technology to produce a hearing instrument, EarPOD, which corrects a person’s hearing over the broad frequency range 100 Hz to 10,000 Hz. The volume for each ear is independently controlled by simple adjustment knobs on the EarPOD case.
According to founder and inventor Garth Gobeli, “Even high-end conventional hearing aids provide adequate correction only to about 3,200 Hz., and can cost over $4,000. EarPOD’s affordability, wide range of sound frequency reception, and ease of use, provides an excellent MP3 player-like container system that capitalizes on the world’s mainstream acceptance of visibly worn earbuds.”
Furthermore, “The EarPOD’s value to its users is unparallel. The affordability and ease of use make this a remarkable product in today’s competitive market. The EarPOD provides a technically superior hearing instrument for only $325.00 for both ears.”
Technology Ventures Corporation selected EarPod, Inc. to showcase its technology at its 2010 Technology Ventures Equity Capital Symposium in Albuquerque. The forum allowed Gobeli to present his business case to a group of nearly seventy-five nationwide investors. At the time, the product was still in its prototype stage.
With the research and development complete, the company is now focusing on sales and on raising capital to expand manufacturing and marketing. “I’ve been encouraged by some venture capitalists to price it quite a bit higher,” Gobeli says. “But when people hear about it, I want them to reach for their wallets, not go home and think about it.”
